Contamination Control Engineer

The contamination control competence operates as the primary authority on contamination control related topics in ASML, based within operations. The complete production process of the most advanced lithography and metrology machines takes place within this sector.

It is our mission to ensure clean manufacturing throughout the entire production process, e.g. from handling incoming parts, through assembly, testing and packaging in our VHV factories, all the way to installing our systems at the customer sites. In this way, we enable delivering high quality products to improve system performance at the customer, impacting CT, cost and quality within our own factories and quality, availability and yield at our customers.

Next to that, our competence acts as a competence center globally, in which we drive standardization of Best Known Methods (BKM) across ASML’s worldwide factories and sectors.

The scope of the work includes ad hoc issue resolution, work preparation, gap analysis methodologies (audits/pFMEA), supporting and advising the production engineering and manufacturing Departments, continuous improvement projects, developing means & methods, standardization and process optimization.

As a contamination control engineer (CCE), you contribute to ensuring clean manufacturing of our systems throughout the entire manufacturing process within our factories, i.e. during assembly of our modules/system, during the test phase of the system and during the packaging process. We aim to identify and mitigate both particle and molecular contamination risks in our production processes in order to ensure minimize downtime and ensure quality to enable system performance in terms of reticle/wafer defectivity and optics lifetime.

You will focus on the Non Product Related aspects (cleanroom/environment, tools, parts, training/awareness/skills of people, etc.) of the manufacturing process and will ensure clean manufacturing by serving our customers with, among others:

• Ad hoc & escalation support: answer ad hoc questions related to contamination control coming from shopfloor/engineering or other Departments as well as helping out in case of escalation in factory or install due to particle contamination issues. Our competence acts as a primary point of contact for internal customers such as engineers, technicians and designers

• Continuous improvement project roadmap: as CCE, you also contribute to our longer term goals by driving (cross-sectoral) improvement projects both on content and processes, that connect to business priorities like improving quality and sustainability and decreasing CT and cost, , e.g. developing new CC related trainings, investigating cleaner and more sustainable (nitrile) gloves, securing the quality of cleaning liquids from supplier to end-user

• Identify risks by using gap analysis methodologies: one of our competence tasks is creating insights in performance and capability of work centers/factories to manufacture in a clean manner. As a CCE, you are part of running our audit program within our factories to create these insights, identify improvement opportunities and share our standards with the shopfloor in order to close gaps.
  You will also identify contamination risks and mitigate them by setting up and analyzing particle measurements in our work centers

• Standardization: our work is typically (to a large extent) generic and applicable to many factories/sectors, meaning standardization is key. Therefore, we develop standards (Best Known Methods) and implement them across our factories and sectors worldwide

• Process optimization and development of Means & Methods: we continuously improve our own internal processes and means & methods, such as developing and maintaining audit tools, BKM implementation strategies or measurement and analysis tools and software

Next to that You will:

• Interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a broad range of levels.

• Provide theoretical and practical training.

• Build-up and maintain state-of-art knowledge in the field of contamination control technology.

• Drive standardization: develop Best Known Methods (BKM) and implement them across ASML’s worldwide factories

Education and experience

• BSc or MSc degree in an Engineering degree or equivalent

• 5-10 years of working experience, preferably within the area of defectivity/contamination control

• Willing to develop or further deepen technical skills in contamination control

• Knowledge of cleanrooms, clean way of working and, clean production processes

• Knowledge of inspection and cleaning method

• Experience with taking the lead in audits or assessments

• Experience with (cross sectoral) project management

• Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing 5S+1

• Strong communication and influencing skills, enabling you to influence management decision (sometimes without power or mandate)

• Strong presentation skills

• Strategic mindset and strong ability to think in processes

• Takes initiative, pro-active mindset

• Quality driven

• Generalist/ “helicopter” view

• Proficient in the English language both written and spoken

Willingness to travel in case of request (up to 2/3 times a year)

For this position, the indicative (fixed) annual salary range is between 75,000 euro and 85,000 euro​. This range comprises vacation allowance and a 13th-month payment. Company profit sharing and shift allowance (if applicable) are not included in this range. The actual compensation offered will depend on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: job-related skills, relevant Education and (work) experience, certifications, demonstrated abilities of the candidate, pay relative to other team members.
