Het internet groeit snel, en dat geldt ook voor de vraag naar onze services, van Zoeken tot Gmail en YouTube. In 2016 openden we in de Nederlandse Eemshaven een nieuw datacenter om deze groei te kunnen bijhouden. In 2018 kondigden we een uitbreiding van deze campus aan. In juni 2019 maakten we een verdere groei van de Eemshaven bekend, plus plannen voor een nieuwe locatie bij Middenmeer, ongeveer 108 km ten zuiden van de Eemshaven. Hiermee komen onze totale investeringen in Nederlandse datacenters uit op 3,8 miljard euro.
Ons datacenter in de Eemshaven biedt werkgelegenheid aan meer dan 470 mensen. Dit zijn fulltime medewerkers en externe leveranciers, waaronder IT-specialisten, technici, bewakers, cateringpersoneel en faciliteitbeheerders.
Google heeft in Nederland overeenkomsten gesloten met windparken bij Delfzijl en in Zeeland (Krammer en Bouwdokken) en met zonne-energiepark Sunport Delfzijl voor de inkoop van hernieuwbare energie voor onze datacenters.

This internship is intended for students enrolled in an educational program relevant to the job qualifications or those in the penultimate/final year of an accredited full-time Bachelor's or Master's degree program located in the EMEA region. Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in one of the specific country locations identified for this role, for the duration of the internship program. Interns will be required to be available to work full-time for a minimum of 13 weeks over the Summer 2026 (starting in May, June or July) for the duration of the program.As a Data Center Facilities Technician Intern, you will play a vital role in maintaining the physical data center environment. You will train alongside experienced technicians, gaining experience by assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, and control and monitoring systems.
A key part of your role will be learning to inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems like piping and other electrical or mechanical components. You'll also learn to read blueprints and schematics, assist in conducting system tours, and provide daily support to our technicians. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop creative solutions for improving operational efficiencies and reducing costs, all while adhering to our strict health and safety policies. By learning our systems and tools, you will build a solid technical foundation and grow your skills in a mission-critical environment.
