Job Description

GATT-technologies, a Johnson & Johnson Company is recruiting for an Engineering Manager located in Nijmegen.

Summary of Role:

  • Provides leadership and direction for engineering resources and activities.
  • Partners with manufacturing and quality in the identification, definition, and execution of projects and delivers technical requirements for sustaining base business activities as well as continuous improvement of the product's supply chain capabilities.
  • Encourages and supports the identification and development of innovative solutions to problems and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assumes site leadership responsibility for all plant engineering activities at a regulated manufacturing site
  • High accountability and ability to shape and grow the engineering department
  • Aligns Engineering objectives in support of the overall plant strategy.
  • Leads engineering activities to meet plant objectives, measurable via the plant dashboard
  • Oversees technical execution of projects.
  • Facilitates resolution of complex technical and operational problems.
  • Promotes innovation initiatives for new products and ideas.
  • Reviews and approves technical documentation to verify compliance to technical specifications and standards.
  • Communicates with internal stakeholders/departments (manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc) and external partners to coordinate and execute project plans.
  • Assigns tasks according to projected scopes including compliance and quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, capacity increase, raw material qualification, and launch preparation.
  • Monitors smooth execution of plans and programs at lower levels and cross functionally.
  • Allocates proper level of resources to facilitate attainment of project goals within established timelines and budgets.
  • Manages the engineering Team
  • Plans, schedules, and executes capital projects, new product introductions ( if applicable) , and asset transfer projects.
  • Follows trends, actions and due dates on non-conformances and CAPA’s, microbiology results etc. and drives improvements.
  • Ensures conformance with all aspects of regulatory expectation on engineering in the medical device industry; proper records, change control, validation, document control, training certification etc
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Ensures departmental and company compliance with all local government /company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition
  • Drives excellence in project management and delivers operationally robust solutions (meeting agreed capability and operational targets) to agreed costs and timescales and in conformance with all compliance and safety standards, policies and regulations
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Production, QA, and Supply Chain teams and provide engineering support for the plant safety and compliance improvements
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Works with plant SLT (Site Leadership Team) to prioritize projects and maintain the capital spending plan.
  • Prepares the engineering input to the annual business plan.
  • Prepares the team for critical regulatory inspections (i.e. EU, MDSAP and FDA) and participates in the Back Room and front Room as SME for Engineering.
  • Develops engineers to assume additional responsibility and leadership roles in the plant
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications/Experience

  • A relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s degree. Manufacturing or Engineering preferred; sciences would be considered.
  • Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive operations experience.
  • Track record of people leadership, development and collaboration.
  • Quality Regulations and Policy, Safety Regulations and Policy, Operations Management
  • Fluency in English/second language Dutch preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Track record of people leadership, development and collaboration
  • Champion of Lean, Agile and 6 sigma principles, Quality Management. A ‘belt’ or other recognized qualification preferred
  • Ability to build strong working partnerships, trust and credibility at all levels
  • Financial acumen in an Operations environment
  • Organizational, collaboration, communication and leadership skills
