The role

We are offering an exciting internship opportunity in our Development team. As an intern, you will have the chance to work on cutting-edge projects, exploring new concepts and systems for future naval vessels. This role is ideal for a motivated student eager to contribute to the forefront of naval innovation.

Key accountabilities

As an intern at Damen Naval, you will engage with multiple aspects of naval ship and system concepts across various phases of design and development. Depending on your assignment, you will:

  • Develop new Naval ships or -ship types or innovate existing ones.
  • Develop Naval Ship (sub)systems like Mission Deck equipment or smart integration solution concepts to address emerging naval needs.
  • Utilize new analysis methods and design tools to achieve your research objectives.
  • Take ownership of the planning and execution of your research project from day one.
  • Deliver a detailed, in-depth analysis of your research problem, identifying innovative solutions.
  • Communicate your results and conclusions effectively to other departments, contributing to the collaborative environment of our organization.

Skills & experience

The perfect candidate is:

  • Studying for a Bachelor or Master degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in the most commonly used high-level programming languages and good practices on database design.
  • Experience with 2D CAD and 3D modelling (Rhino).
  • Passionate about ships or shipbuilding.
  • Capable of identifying and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Independent, analytical and proactive.
  • Fluent in English spoken and written.
