About the jobOur computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can't just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

With your technical expertise, you lead projects in multiple areas of expertise (i.e., engineering domains or systems) within a data center facility, including construction and equipment installation/troubleshooting/debugging with vendors.

In this role you will review security evaluation reports and carry your own security evaluation to ensure the Device Under Test reaches a certain security level. In the event vulnerabilities are identified, you will be responsible for identifying, proposing, and driving implementation of mitigation measures in software or hardware.Responsibilities
  • Communicate across audiences, situations, and contexts in both a written and verbal format. Understand when a communication style needs to change or adapt to increase effectiveness and influence.
  • Develop, understand, and apply security technical knowledge to complete security evaluation, security assessment, and risk management tasks. Understand or perform fault attack at system level in a lab environment on a consumer device.
  • Perform power side-channel analysis and fault analysis on various cryptographic algorithms in a lab environment on a consumer device. Apply system level knowledge to improve overall system security and attack resistance.
  • Define, generate hypotheses, structure, analyze, and develop unique insights across a wide range of security ambiguous problems.
  • Propose mitigation techniques in hardware or software to address security vulnerabilities. Work with silicon architecture and implementation teams, software organization, and product stakeholders.
