About us

Damen Global Support B.V. is a part of the Damen Shipyards Group, based in Gorinchem, Netherlands, and offers a wide range of support services. These services are related to disciplines including Corporate Finance, Legal, Tax, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, Sales, Procurement, and Logistics. The company is involved in various activities and works closely with other departments and/or entities within the Damen Shipyards Group with the aim of improving operational efficiency and sustainability.

The Procurement department of Damen Global Support consists of three teams: Information Technology (IT), Non-Product Related (NPR), and Distribution Center (DC). Each team is led by a Manager Procurement, who reports to the Director Procurement.

Procurement NPR is responsible for purchasing Non-Product Related products and services that are necessary to enable daily operations. These are products and services that are not directly applied to the ships. Think of catering, production resources, hiring temporary staff, and purchasing services. Due to the diversity of products and services, the procurement process is challenging and labor-intensive.

The role

As a graduate/intern, you are responsible for developing usable AI (Artificial Intelligence) solutions that can increase the efficiency of the daily Purchase-To-Pay process. The Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, also known as procure-to-pay, is an integrated system that automates the entire procurement process of goods and services for a company. The P2P process starts with the request for goods or services to be purchased and ends with the payment to the supplier. The solutions must be easily implementable with minimal resources. The level of efficiency must be such that it contributes to the growth and efficiency of our company. You report to the Manager Procurement.

Key accountabilities

• Develop AI solutions that increase the efficiency of the Purchase-To-Pay process.
• The solutions must:
• demonstrably lead to cost savings and process optimization within the procurement process;
• be substantiated based on proven methodologies and/or scientific study;
• comply with laws and regulations regarding procurement activities and data security.
• Report to management on identified solutions and make recommendations for improvement.

Skills & Experience

• HBO and/or WO study in the direction of (Technical) Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Logistics, Information Technology.
• Demonstrable affinity and basic knowledge of business-, financial processes and Information Technology.
• Well-developed empathetic and listening skills.
• Ability to connect with internal stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Available for at least 6 consecutive months.
