Introduction to the job
As an Epic Owner at ASML, you'll be instrumental in shaping and delivering value-driven initiatives that help drive business success. This role is not just about managing projects; it's about taking ownership of strategic IT epics, refining them, and ensuring they are executed in alignment with business goals.
You'll work across teams, navigating complex challenges to turn high-level ideas into tangible outcomes that make a significant difference.
As Epic Owner you'll translate strategic intent into actionable initiatives by partnering closely with business stakeholders and Agile teams. Your mission is to shape and drive the lifecycle of IT epics—from ideation and refinement through to execution and value realization. You’ll gather input from stakeholders, align priorities across domains, and ensure that epics are clearly defined, value-driven, and effectively delivered within the Agile Release Train.
Role and Responsibilities
As an Epic Owner, you will oversee the refinement and execution of strategic IT epics within an Agile framework. You will drive complex epics that span across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs). You will work closely with the leading coalitions of the ARTs, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and customer value.
You will collaborate with fellow Epic Owners and senior management across Departments to shape and implement tactical and strategic decisions. You’ll play a key role in cascading direction, sharing insights, and ensuring alignment between strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
You’ll manage the full lifecycle of epics, support their execution, and ensure that dependencies, priorities, and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed. You’ll also contribute to strategic planning and help shape the roadmap for your initiatives.
Education and experience
You are a strategic leader with a strong sense of ownership and a collaborative mindset. You thrive in Agile environments and enjoy working across teams and leadership layers to drive both strategic initiatives and organizational impact.
To succeed in this role, you bring:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field
5+ years of experience in IT project management, preferably in an agile context and preferably in an Engineering environment
In-depth knowledge of the Agile framework, particularly managing Epics and coordinating between teams within ARTs
Proven experience in strategic planning, stakeholder management, and external dependency management
Experience managing external vendors and distributed teams
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across teams and leadership
A proactive approach to shaping and cascading tactical and strategic decisions in collaboration with other Epic Owners and senior management

Context of the position
At ASML we invent, develop and manufacture world-leading high tech lithography machines for our chip making customers. These tailor-made machines can image billions of structures in a few seconds with an accuracy of a few silicon atoms. Our headquarters are in the heart of the Eindhoven region, also known as ‘Brainport’, Europe’s top tech hub.
The IT division supports information management, infrastructure and key business processes across ASML. The IT infrastructure, hardware and applications are absolutely mission-critical for almost all ASML’s internal | external activities.
A sub-cluster within the IT organization is IT Solution Delivery for R&D; this IT R&D is responsible for the engineering infrastructure services and applications/ tooling for ASML’s Research and Development organization. We drive improvement and innovation projects and ensure that these services are running in an optimal way. We also support the IT applications that are used at ASML.
IT Solution Delivery for R&D supports two development disciplines: Hardware (mechanical, electrical, simulation) and Software engineering. As an IT Epic Owner you will be active in the Hardware discipline, supporting engineering applications for complete D&E and Research worldwide. You will report to the Head of IT R&D Solution Delivery Hardware.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
