Job Description:

The department of Manufacturing Engineering, Production Performance, is looking for an ambitious and hands-on manufacturing engineer for production support and improvement activities. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will work in full collaboration with the engineering teams with focus on production performance and improvement with a strong emphasis on hands-on work in the manufacturing lines with the operating teams. In this role you are the expert that helps to deliver solutions to meet the manufacturing targets, quality and business targets. Supports manufacturing operation on the manufacturing floor by troubleshooting and addressing deviations. Plans and conducts activities related to supporting the base business, i.e., day-to-day yield analyses, follow up and working across teams to reduce deviations. Continuously evaluating process cost, quality, capability alternatives, and problem solving and decision-making tools. Proactively keeps up to date on current and new technologies. Works with a safety, quality, and service mentality. This is an onsite function for 40 hours a week. Remote or hybrid work is not possible in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an ambassador for safety, quality, and service.
  • Creating, updating and training of procedures (SOPs) in a GMP environment. Performing regular process confirmations.
  • Identifies and investigates technical or quality related problems and rigorously in applying structural problem-solving tools to drill down to the root cause and implement robust controls that follow Lean Manufacturing philosophy.
  • Proactively identifies bottlenecks in manufacturing using value stream mapping approach.
  • You are familiar with change control in a medical device environment and are capable and comfortable in writing engineering protocols and reports.
  • Organize engineering, validation and verification studies by setting up a test plan and protocol, test criteria, executing tests, analyzing, interpreting and reporting outcomes as well as identifying and solving technical issues.
  • Participates in engineering activities to develop and implement effective, high-quality processes and design guidelines for dissemination throughout the division.
  • Implements equipment, materials, and process performance requirements
  • Facilitates experiments and capability studies, develop process specifications, and designs and procures process tools.
  • Evaluates and advises on the selection of suitable equipment for optimized, balanced line performance.
  • Processes analyses of new systems and equipment with the intent of achieving continuous improvement of present methods.
  • Edits and publishes process documentation and training materials for processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Could become a Subject Matter Expert or System Owner for manufacturing processes.
  • Communication with and support of other departments such as R&D, Quality Assurance (QA), Operations.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science experience in a relevant subject, e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering.
Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Industrial Engineering role, in a medium to high volume manufacturing setting
  • Fluent in verbal and written Dutch
  • Verbal and written proficiency (at least at B2 level) in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge in problem-solving methodology
  • Proven knowledge in Design for Manufacturing (Lean Manufacturing, Tolerancing, Poka Yoke design, Theory of Constrains)
  • Proficient in applying statistical methodologies and analysis using Minitab
  • Proactive and hands-on approach to improving manufacturing
  • Communicative
  • Flexible and accurate
  • Able to function both independently and in a team
  • Goal-oriented
  • Continuous Improvement/Innovation oriented
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment, preferably Medical Device (ISO13485).

Desired:

  • Knowledge & application experiences of GMP, GXP fundamentals
  • Certified LEAN Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Knowledge of high precision machining (lathing and milling)
