Materials and Conditioning Engineer

Introduction

Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the development, specification and design of new ASML products. The group CMCB (Construction Materials Corrosion & Bonding) is responsible for supporting the design engineer in making the best design choices and material choices.

Job Mission

Within the CMCB group, the adhesives and polymers team develops knowledge on adhesive bonds and polymer materials properties which results in robust, reliable and predictable adhesive bonded connections and polymer parts. Our group supports design engineers in making the best material choices. Besides the basic support, it includes research into which production technique, processes, requirements are needed for a material to perform under different conditions.
 

Job Description

• Evaluating adhesives for new and current product lines to determine if they meet requirements. This is done by internal and external testing and analyzing data to determine material performance. The results shall be communicated crystal clear on the limitations and risks of a chosen adheisve in an application to all stakeholders.
• Making sure materials are correct for manufacturability.
• Participating in design reviews, root cause analyses and communicating with design engineers to identify material problems.
• Life time testing of adhesives under extreme conditions
• Keep a watch on emerging trends of material development and investigation of materials which could potentially be critical to future applications.
• Share knowledge on properties of materials, processing of materials and other relevant topics.

We are looking for strengthening the current team with respect to the following topics:

• Investigation of new adhesives in the market complying with EHS regulations
• Debonding and reuse techniques
• Magnet bonding
• Influence of light on lifetime of adhesives
• Modelling of adhesives
• Adhesive testing techniques
   

Education & Experience

• A degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, chemistry / chemical engineering or physics.
• A strong background in materials in general required.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
