About us

Damen Services provides a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes the handling of warranty calls, delivery of vessels, training crew members, delivery of spare parts, providing maintenance, and execute modifications & repairs.

Damen Services' mission is to support the sales organization of Damen in selling vessels by providing additional value in the form of services. After the sale of a ship, excellent services are delivered in order to increase the likelihood that a customer will choose Damen again to buy a ship for replacement or expansion.

At the operational level, the Services department maintains contact with clients and is the eyes and ears of the sales organization. Damen Services is a dynamic organization due to its global character. THE ROLE

As a buyer, you are responsible for the entire purchasing process. This includes putting out requests for quotes, ensuring timely and in-full deliveries, retrieving up-to-date part data, and handling invoices. You will also be tasked with resolving any non-conformities that may arise and maintaining accurate data on deliveries and issues in our ERP system.

Additionally, you will manage the purchasing budget and excel at maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Procurement of parts and services: Source and acquire the necessary components, materials, and services essential for production and operations.
• Requesting and evaluating quotes: Solicit and assess supplier quotes based on detailed technical specifications to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
• Supplier negotiations: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, including pricing, delivery timelines, and service agreements.
• Administrative processing: Complete and maintain all required procurement documentation, including purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Expediting and monitoring deliveries: Proactively track and expedite orders to ensure on-time, in-full deliveries, addressing any delays or issues that arise in the supply chain.
• Resolving non-conformities: Investigate and resolve any non-conformities related to deliveries, including incorrect, damaged, or incomplete shipments, to minimize disruption to operations.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Educational Background: You have completed MBO/HBO level education, preferably in a relevant field. Experience in reading technical drawings is a plus.
• Purchasing Experience: You bring concrete, hands-on experience in purchasing, with proven skills in planning and organizing procurement processes effectively.
• Result-Oriented: You are a proactive buyer who takes the initiative and is focused on achieving results in a fast-paced environment.
• Language Proficiency: You are fluent in both Dutch and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Communication and Collaboration: You excel in communicating effectively with team members, stakeholders, and suppliers, ensuring smooth coordination across the supply chain.
• Decisive and Flexible: You can make decisions efficiently while maintaining flexibility in your approach. You work methodically and adjust when necessary to achieve the best outcomes.
• Expectation Management: You are adept at managing expectations, ensuring clarity and alignment between all parties involved in the procurement process.
