Damen’s mission
Damen aims to become the most sustainable maritime solution provider in the world. Next to this aim, external stakeholders demand a lot from Damen, be it the CSRD, ISO standards or lender requirements. To align the Damen group between the common goal and external requirements, a Sustainability Board has been established to coordinate CSRD goals and improvement plans, and sustainability in broader terms.
The role
The purpose of the Program Manager is to organize Sustainability board sessions, set the agenda, advise the board on internal and external requirement, and to check-up on follow up.
In this versatile role you will work with the Sustainability Director and contribute to the success of the company strategy by coordinating the Sustainability agenda of the board. It will be in close collaboration between Finance and Sustainability for the CSRD. This includes initiatives, programs, and overseeing and reporting on progress made.
The Program Manager will work closely together with the Group directors, and be instrumental in helping to cascade down policies in workable improvement plans in the divisions and yards. This is a complex task as Damen has 8 divisions and 35 yards worldwide. The Program Manager will play a crucial role in connecting, coordinating and advising the different entities on compliance and sustainability.
To be able to do so, the Program Manager will need to stay up to date on relevant expertise and participate in compliance and sustainability work groups. Preferably the candidate already has extensive knowledge in this field and can use this expertise to provide practical advice and guidance.
The Program Manager will report to the Sustainability Director of Damen Shipyards.
The successful candidate is an experienced program manager with a proven record of accomplishment in CSRD, preferably with an Environmental / ISO / regulatory compliance background. He or she is an interdependent leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and has the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key accountabilities
- Experience with regulatory compliance / sustainability / CSRD implementation
- Research and analyze and be up to date with sustainability trends, regulations and best practices
- Implement, and monitor strategies improving the sustainability of the
organization - Lead the engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure
sustainability initiatives and requirements are met - Implement sustainability policies, plans and procedures
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance
Skills & experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in (program) management
- Experience in CSRD / sustainability
- Knowledge of sustainability principles and practices
- Knowledge of Maritime industry and Damen Shipyards in particular is a pre
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
