The energy transition needs you as Senior Software Engineer at Grid to Great
As the energy transition accelerates, our energy grid faces higher demands. We need a new approach to substation automation requiring less equipment and fewer man-hours, while generating crucial data for grid operators. Our solutions, used by companies like Ellevio, Liander and National Grid, are evolving with new sensors and software. Join our agile development team, where you can propose new technology or software architectures to your fellow team members to accelerate and to improve the quality of our applications and products. Furthermore, you can take the lead in design sessions and collaborate in a hardworking and compact team.
We are creating the energy grid of the future, for everyone, with everyone. And as Senior Software Engineer, you can play your part in this. Your role will involve:
Developing and improving (embedded) software for our virtualized substation server
Translating the diverse needs form our customers into development solutions.
Coaching and developing other (junior) developers.
Developing the software architecture, together with the team
Ensuring cyber security (secure coding principles, OWASP, PEN tests, etc.)

A master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
At least 5 years of experience with (embedded) software development
Experience with C, C++, Python, JavaScript, DevOps, Linux, Containers.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPN’s, subnetting, MPLS, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in cyber security (secure coding principles such as OWASP)
Attractive salary and benefits package
Based on a 40-hour working week, you will receive:
A gross monthly salary between €4.580 and €7.585 (scale 9 or 10);
Annually an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 18% (full time) or 12.8% (part time) of your gross annual salary. This includes 5.2% ADV (shorter working hours) and 8% holiday allowance. If you do not work full time, you are not entitled to ADV. You can have this budget paid out as extra salary or use it to purchase extra days off, for example. You choose the option that is right for you.
24.5 days’ holiday per year, which can be topped up generously from your IKB.
An end-of-year bonus of 6% of your annual salary in December.
A sustainable employability (SE) budget of €700 per year. Choose a payment for a sport or hobby, to make your home more sustainable or to reduce your student loan debt with DUO, for example. You decide how your budget is spent.
A pension with ABP, especially for the government and education sector. We will pay a 70% share of your pension contribution.
