Join the Corporate Treasury team as a (Senior) Treasury Trade Finance Application (Guarantee Management System (GMS)) Process Specialist, where you will be accountable for the effective management, operation, administration, and continuous improvement of ABB’s global Trade Finance Application and contribute to shaping and advancing Treasury’s technology, digitalization, and data initiatives.
In this role, you will be part of the Treasury Global Process Owner and Middle Office team, supporting the development and implementation of the Corporate Treasury application strategy. You will serve as the primary liaison between the Export and Trade Finance team, the application vendor and the internal IS functions, ensuring that the application reliably supports Global Trade Finance activities and meets both strategic and business requirements.
Proficiency in this role requires in-depth understanding of Export and Trade Finance instruments (Guarantees, Letters of Credit etc.) and processes, along with extensive experience in managing and configuring a SaaS-based Trade Finance application. Your contribution will span the entire application lifecycle – from managing demand, performing application/system configuration and maintenance, to working closely with the vendor and internal IS teams as required to implement enhancements – ensuring operational excellence and enabling daily Treasury operations.
As the Application Expert, you will act as the first point of contact for any Trade Finance Application related queries and work alongside the Treasury Workstreams on the end-to-end process design, focusing on designing the application supported processes, workflows and steps, and their subsequent implementation and documentation. In addition, you will support users, guide problem-solving efforts for complex issues, and ensure their timely resolution.
Finally, the scope of this role also encompasses actively exploring the potential of emerging technologies — including AI, automation, and data analytics — to enhance process efficiency, insight generation, and strategic decision-making within the Treasury function.
This role can be based in Zurich (Switzerland), Krakow (Poland) or Rotterdam (Netherlands) while there is no relocation of suitable candidates planned.
Your responsibilities:
Collaborate with the global Export and Trade Finance Workstream, the application vendor, and internal IS stakeholders to ensure the application remains fully operational and aligned with both operational and strategic requirements across all modules and functionalities
Support Treasury Workstreams in the end-to-end process design, in particular in designing the application supported processes, workflows and steps, and their subsequent implementation
Work side by side Treasury Workstreams and support daily application operations as required
Perform application configuration, static/master data and user management within the application
Provide end-to-end application support, including issue resolution, application monitoring, and user assistance, ensuring the application is compliant with ABB standards and requirements
Manage and support the workflow for letters of credit, guarantees, documentary collections within the application solution
Manage the vendor relationship by promoting constructive collaboration, monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLA) adherence, overseeing invoice approval, and tracking costs
Analyze, identify solutions for, and resolve functional and basic technical issues, escalating to the vendor or internal IS teams as needed for high-priority cases
Plan and execute application upgrades, patch management, and testing activities (user acceptance (UAT), regression etc.), in close collaboration with internal IS teams, as and when required
Enhance process optimization and improve Treasury workflows by leveraging application capabilities and automation
Promote support for issues affecting the application including SWIFT initiatives, Customer Security Programs, and more. SWIFT initiatives, Customer Security Programs etc.
Deliver training and guidance to users on application functionality, best practices and new features
Support compliance and security audits in collaboration with internal IS teams
Stay up to date on application developments, product updates, and industry best practices
Identify, evaluate, and recommend innovative solutions that enhance process efficiency, analytical capabilities, and decision support
Support the integration of emerging technologies into Treasury applications and processes, ensuring alignment with ABB’s data architecture, security standards, and digital governance frameworks
Act as an innovation advocate within Treasury, promoting awareness, curiosity, and a culture of continuous improvement through technology-enabled solutions
Support any other ad hoc activities and projects as required
Your background:
5+ years of practical experience with a SaaS based Trade Finance Application, with preference on relevant and extensive experience working with Komgo/GlobalTradeTM Multi-bank Trade Finance Platform/ Guarantee Management System (GMS)
Experience gained in a similar role or in implementing a SaaS based Trade Finance Application
Extensive functional knowledge of application modules, configuration, troubleshooting and integrations
Experience in helping application users, solving incidents, and handling change requests efficiently
Demonstrated experience in vendor management for SaaS-based solutions
Familiarity with bank connectivity, SWIFT trade messaging and Trade compliance processes
Solid understanding of trade finance instruments (guarantees, letters of credit, etc.) and processes
Good knowledge of other systems and applications, e.g. SAP S4HANA and API interfaces, as a plus
Good knowledge of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotic process automation (RPA), data analytics, and advanced visualization and ability to assess feasibility through pilots, proof-of-concepts, and structured evaluation
Experience with data-driven tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar) and familiarity with integrating financial data across systems, as a plus
Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
Continuous improvement and process mindset, with a drive to implement global best practice processes and leverage standard application capacities
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and global teams
