Your role and responsibilities

As Vessel & Voyage Performance Manager, you will lead ABB Marine & Ports’ global Vessel & Voyage Management business, combining people leadership, commercial ownership, and deep maritime expertise.

You are responsible for both driving the business and developing a high‑performing team, while positioning ABB at the forefront of digital and sustainable maritime operations. Your scope includes Routing Services, Octopus Motion, and Parametric Roll solution.

By leveraging advanced analytics, digital platforms, and the latest maritime technologies, you ensure strong client value, operational excellence, and profitable growth. At the same time, your work directly contributes to reducing greenhouse‑gas emissions and improving fuel efficiency across the global fleet.

You will be part of the Marine & Ports division. At ABB Marine & Ports, we are transforming vessels and port operations through innovative electric, automated, and digital technologies. As part of enabling a low‑carbon society, we develop solutions that make marine operations safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

Key responsibilities

Business & P&L leadership

• Full end‑to‑end responsibility for the Vessel & Voyage Performance business, including strategy, portfolio, operations and commercial execution.

• Own Profit & Loss, performance targets, forecasting and improvement actions.

• Define and implement business and product strategies aligned with ABB targets and market needs.

• Drive profitable growth through portfolio development, sales support, and market positioning.

Digital & product leadership

• Define and execute the digital strategy and roadmap for vessel and voyage performance solutions.

• Translate industry trends (weather routing, fuel efficiency, emissions regulations, digitalization) into differentiated customer offerings.

• Act as the key interface between customers, market, and ABB’s global digital and R&D organizations.

• Represent ABB as the face of the digital vessel performance portfolio toward customers and partners.

Team & organizational leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary international team.

• Build a customer‑centric, high‑performance organization with strong execution focus.

• Foster collaboration across ABB’s global matrix organization and external stakeholders.

Operational & performance excellence

• Analyze vessel and voyage operational data (fuel consumption, emissions, machinery efficiency).

• Drive optimization initiatives related to fuel efficiency, voyage execution, and environmental performance.

• Ensure data quality, validation and consistency in performance reporting and KPIs.

• Prepare dashboards and insights for customers and internal stakeholders.

• Support compliance with IMO regulations and energy‑efficiency frameworks.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Business deveopment or a comparable technical discipline.

• 10+ years of professional experience in the maritime industry, with 5–10 years in relevant roles such as vessel or voyage performance, weather routing, Naval or marine engineering and/or Maritime digital solutions or business development.

• Proven P&L responsibility (minimum 2 years) in a complex, dynamic environment.

• Solid people‑management experience with strong leadership skills.

• Strong analytical and reporting capabilities (e.g. Excel, Power BI) and the ability to translate data into clear business insights.

• Comfortable working in a global, international matrix organization.

• Fluent in English.

Preferred / strong plus

• Experience with digital maritime platforms, performance monitoring tools or voyage optimization solutions.

• Background in energy efficiency, emissions reporting or regulatory compliance (IMO frameworks).

• Experience working closely with global customers and commercial teams.
