Do you want to contribute to data-driven innovation in a large, international industrial environment? As a Data engineer at Tata Steel, you design and deliver reliable, scalable data solutions that support digital products, advanced analytics and informed decision-making across the organisation.

You will be part of the centrally organised Data & Analytics Enabling department within Digital Technologies. In this role, you help build a strong and trustworthy data foundation that enables value creation and supports Tata Steel’s transition towards more sustainable and green steel production. You work according to modern software engineering principles such as version control, modular design, automated testing, documentation and CI/CD. You collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists and product teams to translate business and analytical needs into robust data solutions, while continuously developing your technical skills and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture. • Design and maintain scalable data pipelines: You design, build and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines for a wide variety of data sources across the organisation.
• Develop high-quality and reusable datasets: You create reliable, reusable datasets in line with data architecture guidelines and data engineering standards.
• Ensure stable and reliable data operations: You safeguard the reliability of data platforms by monitoring data flows, resolving incidents and continuously improving data processes.
• Document data pipelines and data models: You clearly document data pipelines and data models to ensure transparency, reproducibility and ease of maintenance.
• Validate data quality and consistency: You validate datasets and data pipelines to guarantee accuracy, consistency and reliability of the data used for analytics and decision-making.

Herken jij jezelf?

You are a Data engineer with a strong engineering mindset and a passion for building reliable data solutions. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly and collaborate easily with colleagues from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds. You are professionally proficient in English and comfortable working in an Agile or DevOps environment. In addition, you bring:

• Strong Python skills and a solid foundation in software engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines using SQL and/or PySpark.
• Experience working with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and technologies such as Databricks, Delta Lake and Airflow.
• The ability to organise your own work, deliver results independently, and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Exposure to containerised environments, Kubernetes or Infrastructure as Code concepts is considered a plus.

• A base monthly salary ranging from € 4193,42 to € 7409,08  gross, depending on your education and experience.
• A total of 10% fixed annual bonuses: a 2% year-end bonus and 8% holiday allowance, plus a variable profit-sharing bonus.
• A good work-life balance with at least 37 days off per year (26 vacation days and 11.5 additional days).
• Participation in our collective pension scheme, with 70% of your contribution paid by us.

You will join the Data & Analytics Enabling team within Digital Technologies, a centrally positioned department that supports data-driven initiatives across Tata Steel’s operations.

The team consists of internationally oriented professionals with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. Together, you work on building a robust and future-proof data landscape that supports innovation, operational excellence and Tata Steel’s ambition to produce steel in a more sustainable way.
