We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.

Damen Offshore & Specialized Vessels
We design and deliver maritime projects for various markets like defense & security, public transport, offshore and dredging.
Our projects are Engineered to Order (ETO). Which means we are involved throughout the project, from the commercial phase and building strategy, until commissioning, delivery and warranty. This makes our work very challenging because the environment is complex and we have a lot of stakeholders.

We work in close cooperation with various internal departments, (sub)contractors, teams on the shipyard and of course the client and her representatives. We do this with an international team of ‘can-do’ people that are developing new and innovative technologies and ways to support customers and push for a more sustainable maritime industry.

For Damen Technical Cooperation, we are seeking to expand our Design & Proposal team. If you are ready to broaden your knowledge and work on various types of ships, we would like to talk to you!

Summary

As a Design & Proposal Engineer, you will be closely involved in the sales process, providing information on technology, cost pricing, and delivery timelines. You will collaborate extensively with other disciplines within Damen, such as Research and Sales, and actively engage with the operational departments of your own Business Unit to develop suitable designs.

Since Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC) frequently utilizes the designs, knowledge, and capacity of other Business Units, active collaboration with the engineering departments is a crucial part of your role. DTC supports customers with shipbuilding at a yard of their choice, meaning production occurs at non-Damen locations, resulting in significant interaction with external parties.

Our product range is extensive: from the sale of licenses to complete ship designs, the provision of engineering and material packages, and support during the construction process. Combinations of these services are also possible, up to and including complete turn-key project delivery.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Selecting the most suitable ships based on customer criteria;
  • Preparing cost price calculations, construction strategies, and schedules;
  • Drafting specifications and general plans based on information provided by other Business Units;
  • Conducting consultations with various departments and external parties (including engineers and subcontractors) to achieve optimized designs;
  • Monitoring project progress during the pre-sales phase;
  • Supporting the sales team with technical input during customer meetings, including presentations and/or calculations as needed.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Shipbuilding or Maritime Technology;
  • Proven experience with new ship construction;
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • Willingness to travel (on average 2 to 8 times per year).

You are customer-oriented and work independently, capable of assessing risks and making decisions based on available information. You can connect with others and thrive in teamwork. You possess excellent communication skills and can articulate yourself well in business customer interactions.

Other

We want to make sure you are happy in your role, so we will support you to develop yourself in this position. We are a growing organization where innovation is the driving force. Entrepreneurship is in our DNA, and that's why we continue to grow and innovate and offer plenty of opportunities.

We offer you:

  • Personal guidance, freedom, varied work and a work environment where your opinion counts;
  • An excellent benefits package tailored to your experience and education level;
  • A dynamic international working environment focusing on technology and innovation;
  • An open, informal, no-nonsense culture with short communication lines;
  • An active social environment in terms of business culture, events and sports.

We are looking forward to meeting you! Do you need more information? Don't hesitate to get in touch with our Recruiter, Gerard Eggink
