Senior Optical Engineer - Source Laser

Join ASML and help shape the future of semiconductor technology! We’re seeking a Senior Optical Design Engineer to join our Source Laser department and tackle complex optical challenges in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

You’ll define optical requirements, develop tools and test methodologies, and act as a technical expert for critical optical topics. From troubleshooting and root cause analysis to influencing design decisions, your work will directly contribute to the performance of ASML’s EUV systems.

• Specify optical requirements and deliver performance monitoring solutions.
• Create and execute test plans at module and system level.
• Investigate and resolve optical issues with structured problem-solving.
• Present findings and collaborate across teams to drive results.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Optics, Opto-mechatronics, or similar.
• ~3 years of industry experience; background in high-power laser optics or optomechanical design is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts.
• Team player with a proactive mindset and ownership attitude.

• Proficient in ray tracing and Zemax.
• Familiarity with basic principles of lasers and laser system design.
• Affinity with physical optics propagation and optomechanics/optomechatronics.
• Affinity with polarization principles.
• Proficient in optical tolerance analysis and stray light analysis.
• Affinity with LIDT, optics damage, coatings, and ellipticity.
• Proficiency with MATLAB.
• Experience with lasers (solid-state and CO₂).
