Introduction to the job

In actuator design and development in D&E MM EUV Wafer Flow department provides cutting edge mechatronics solutions for ASML products. These include stages to transport and position wafers within the machine. For these, and other mechatronic applications, linear electromagnetic actuators are being used. This type of actuators are commonly used in our Lithography systems.

Due to the high throughput demands, high force density actuators are being applied and therefor actively cooled. Beside these performance requirements the reliability- and manufacturability demands are as important. To support this mix of unique technical requirements a dedicated Competence Lab is established, called the Actuator Lab, in Oirschot (ASML building 31). Here, proto types are build, tested and released. We actively develop and secure Actuator related competences to both support the next generation actuator demands as also securing the basic technical knowledge. The various specific technical topics are owned by our competence engineers.

The Competence-Test Lab technician executes and supports activities in the Actuator Lab related to Competence development, research projects, NPI projects and help-requests form the factory.

Role and Responsibilities

The Competence-Test Lab Technician position is in the Actuator Lab group, within the D&E Wafer Flow Department, as part of the BL Mechatronics & Measurement Systems EUV. The Actuator Lab group, is part of D&E (Design and Engineering), and responsible for securing and developing Actuator competence with main focus on manufacturing process, test and Industrialization of Actuator Designs into the TF Motion Factory.

In your role as Competence-Test Lab Technician, you actively participate and execute day-to-day operations in competence, research and NPI projects. You are able to operate and maintain available tools, equipment and set-ups and provide technical hands-on support. You are solution driven and able to bring practical solutions to the table. You contribute to an efficient and effective integration of test activities in various projects.

Typical tasks highlighted:

  • Build, measure and test functional models.
  • Create first order tooling on available equipment.
  • Actively participate in various projects.
  • Collaborate with Competence and Test engineers and other technicians/engineers.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment, implement and carry-out 5S+1 philosophy.
  • Supporting Lab manager activities like maintenance and calibration of equipment/set-ups.
  • Contribute to and support Lab facility management.

Education and experience
  • You have a vocational level (with experience) or Bachelor level Education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering
  • You have a proven background of at least 3 years working with high-tech equipment, in a hardware/software environment.

Other information

The department D&E MM EUV Wafer Flow within Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (MMS) cluster is responsible for specification, design, integration and qualification of the mechatronics sub-systems and components which are fitted into ASML end products. The main focus is on nanometer-accuracy positioning of high speed components for transporting/positioning of wafers and reticles and adjustments of optical elements.  Control engineering, dynamics, actuator design, position measurement systems are part of this department’s main competences. In this position you work in standard day shifts.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
