Director of Data Center Design

As part of our new strategy to stand up a specific Datacentre Division in PM Group, we are seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Data Center Design to lead the strategic and operational delivery of data center design projects across Europe. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our DC Division, ensuring excellent design, commercial performance, and client satisfaction.

Reporting to: Head of DC Division

The role can be based out of any of the PM Group offices in Ireland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Poland or the Netherlands.

• Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and execute the data center design strategy aligned with business goals and client needs.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams across multiple projects and geographies.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and client expectations to inform design innovation.
• Project & Resource Management
  • Oversee all aspects of data center design from concept to delivery.
  • Manage resource planning, team structuring, and hiring to support project demands.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective execution of design deliverables.
• Client Engagement
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the design phase.
  • Translate client requirements into actionable design solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Commercial Oversight
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and commercial performance of design projects.
  • Drive profitability through efficient design practices, HVEC and value engineering.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to optimize cost structures.
• Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Implement robust quality assurance processes across all design outputs.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practices in design methodologies.

• Proven experience in leading large-scale data center design projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems in data centers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex stakeholder environments.
• Excellent commercial acumen and experience managing project budgets.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field; advanced qualifications preferred.
