Ethics & Compliance Officer Investigations

As an Ethics & Compliance Officer Investigations, you conduct independent second‑line investigations within Tata Steel Nederland. You establish facts, safeguard evidence, and report well‑substantiated conclusions. You focus on material, sensitive and high‑impact cases, while also overseeing the quality of first‑line investigations.

You assess incoming reports, determine the appropriate escalation routes and priorities, and develop investigation plans which you execute end‑to‑end. During investigations, you build audit‑ready case files, conduct interviews, work with large datasets and OSINT techniques, and engage digital forensic specialists where required. You also collect and safeguard both digital and physical evidence in line with strict chain‑of‑custody requirements. You report on trends and patterns, advise on remediation, and prepare anonymised quarterly and annual reports. In addition, you work closely with Legal, HR, Security, external forensic parties and, where necessary, law enforcement authorities.

As an Ethics & Compliance Officer Investigations at Tata Steel, you will:

• Conduct end‑to‑end investigations, from intake through reporting and case closure.
• Lead and document witness and subject interviews carefully and in a legally sound manner.
• Manage evidence collection and case files in accordance with strict forensic and audit standards.
• Analyse data and OSINT sources to substantiate findings, patterns and trends.
• Report investigation outcomes, advise on remediation measures, and structurally share lessons learned.

You are an ethical, methodical and results‑driven investigator who is able to bring together complex facts into clear, independent conclusions. You handle confidential information with care, act proportionately, and operate within legal frameworks and privacy requirements. You are comfortable working on sensitive matters, remain composed under pressure, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels. In addition, you have:

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Law, Policing, Security, Intelligence or a related field, or demonstrable operational investigation experience.
• Approximately 4–8 years of experience in investigative or comparable roles, preferably involving internal investigations.
• Proven skills in evidence handling, structured interviewing and case management.
• Experience with data‑driven investigative methods and working with large datasets; familiarity with digital evidence handling and chain‑of‑custody requirements.
• Experience working closely with legal teams, forensic service providers and, where necessary, law enforcement authorities.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.

You work within the Ethics & Compliance team of Risk & Compliance and report to the Head of Ethics & Compliance. On a day‑to‑day basis, you liaise with Legal, HR, Security, IT and operational departments; external forensic partners and advisors are engaged where necessary.

The role is primarily office‑based, with regular case‑related fieldwork at various locations. Your investigations strengthen governance, limit liability exposure, and safeguard the integrity of Tata Steel Nederland.
