Vacature

Wärtsilä is an innovative technology company known for being a forerunner in the Marine and Energy markets. Every day, we – Wärtsilians - put our hearts and minds into turning Wärtsilä's purpose of enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services into reality. Our ultimate aim is to provide increased value to both our customers and society. New, game-changing ideas and continuous improvement have been part of our DNA since 1834. Together, we can create new business opportunities and more sustainable future that we can all be proud of.

We want to transition the world towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. By pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, we can make it work. We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent – want to join the ride?

When you join our Wärtsilä Underwater Services business, you step into a truly global, specialised team that keeps vessels operating safely and efficiently around the world. Our diver technicians and service experts support customers 24/7 by delivering underwater repairs, maintenance and inspections that minimise downtime and prevent costly dry-docking.

And this is where YOU come in.

As a Workshop & Logistics Assistant, you play a vital role behind the scenes. Your dedication and reliability ensure that the equipment our teams rely on is always ready, safe, and in the right place at the right time. You help keep global marine operations moving — directly contributing to the smooth delivery of underwater services that our colleagues and customers depend on.

If you want to make a real impact in a team where your work truly matters, this is your opportunity.

We are now looking for a Workshop & Logistics Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis at our site in Terneuzen, Netherlands.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Supporting daily workshop activities and assisting the team where needed
  • Carrying out basic checks and routine maintenance of equipment (training will be provided)
  • Handling incoming and outgoing goods, including preparing equipment for use
  • Tracking equipment movements in and out of the workshop to ensure visibility
  • Supporting stock and inventory management, including restocking and documentation
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment
  • Delivering and picking up urgent parts or equipment across the Netherlands and Belgium when required
  • Working closely with the workshop team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • A hands-on, practical and proactive mindset
  • Comfort working in a workshop, warehouse, or operational environment
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office; SAP is a plus)
  • A reliable and organised way of working
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through training
  • A valid driver’s license (B)
  • Openness to occasional travel within the Netherlands and Belgium
  • Good communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)

Experience in logistics, warehouse operations, workshop support, automotive, technical support, field service, or similar hands-on environments is considered an advantage.

Why you and us:

At Wärtsilä, we believe in empowerment, ownership, and taking responsibility for our work. We support each other’s growth, and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have the courage to see opportunities and take initiative.

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive work community where everyone can be their true self. We don’t always get it right the first time, and when mistakes are made, we make sure to learn and grow from them. We encourage everyone to voice their opinions freely and have built an environment where you can feel safe, supported, and valued.
