We are Damen
Damen is a family owned business that stands for fellowship, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and stewardship. We believe that our oceans, seas, lakes and rivers offer humanity a growing range of possibilities in terms of trade, food, energy and recreation. We provide maritime solutions to meet these opportunities, through design, shipbuilding, ship repair and related services.
In the previous century, we revolutionised shipbuilding with standardisation and serial production. More than ninety years and 6,000 ships later, those pillars are unchanged. Their importance is only growing with the need for increased sustainability and digitalisation. It is our aim to combine our proven standardisation with the innovations of digitalisation to become the world’s most sustainable shipbuilder.

About the Business Course
As a student or recent graduate, you dive into the world of Damen through a whole new experience with the Damen Business Course (DBC). We invite you to explore every aspect of our company, the solutions we offer and the innovations we want to bring to the industry. All this, in just three days!
The program
Day 1: Get to know the other participants and Damen at our yard, discover the world of shipbuilding and maritime solutions.
Day 2: Dive into the first case study and learn more about the innovations we see today through interactive presentations. Get a chance to network with the professionals of Damen in a spectacular environment.
Day 3: Make an impact with your findings, present your ideas and learn from each other. You may discover a new part of yourself as a young professional.
What do we offer
Hands-on experience with real world challenges through case studies and workshops. Learning from industry experts, with Damen employees as speakers but also guest speakers will take you along on a journey through maritime innovations. Network and build your career through the different activities and most of all, explore and enjoy the maritime industry.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for students that have recently graduated or are about to graduate.
- The main focus will be on Engineering and Finance, as these are the main roles we are currently looking to develop within our team.
- Do you have a different background? Do not hesitate to apply with your motivation letter, as we tailor the program to the attendees
- The ability to solve problems is one of the aspects we dive into, during the DBC. Do not be afraid to think outside the box!
- Teamwork and communication, as working together is an integral part of the culture within Damen.
- Accommodation in the Netherlands. This program is hosted in the Netherlands, and because of the duration we do not accept international applicants that do not have housing arranged in the Netherlands.
Key dates
You can sign up for the business course till the 6th of April. After this, we will make a selection on candidates and invite you to our Selection Day. These are organized on the 21st till the 23rd of April, to determine the participants.
The actual DBC days are on the 25th till the 27th of June.
