EUV Dose Control (DC) Function Cluster and Train

EUV power (intensity, accuracy, stability) is largely managed by Dose and System Transmission Control function (FC-09) within the Optical Column (SF-10) department. To deliver high quality, high performance solutions that excel in ASML’s EUV systems and operations, we work closely together with other source and scanner functions, such, to continuously push the boundaries of system productivity, in sustainability, reliability, availability, serviceability and cost.

The Dose Control train is the execution engine of the function and consists of approximately 85 FTE internal and 20 FTE farmout partners. Competences found in the train include Optics, Sensor Design, Electronics, SW, MDEV, Industrialization, Testing and Integration. There are 10 executional teams of which each has a PO or TL. CPO is responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of the train deliverables (HW, functionality, CPDs), overseeing all the teams and POs’ performances. The train cockpit consists of FO, CPO, RTE and FCA. Our train is characterized by a complex and extensive stakeholder landscape - as our deliverables have a direct impact on EUV system performance, we collaborate continually with EUV Source and Scanner’s neighboring functions.

DC’s Chief Product Owner (CPO)

DC CPO reside in the functional group that consists of senior project leaders, architects, design engineers and integrators, working seamlessly with DC SW, IE, and Edev teams.

The CPO is responsible to bring the functional roadmap to realization within our triple constraints by means of strategic and tactical planning. To do this, the CPO must align with and create buy-in from senior stakeholders (PLs, PCM’s, GLs, DMs). The CPO guides the train to maximize value creation and ensures that the train’s long-term plan matches product master plans at both NXE and EXE BLs. The CPO has a pivotal leadership position in the train and towards the POs in particular (dash line report to CPO). As such, the CPO needs to bring the train and stakeholders along in the constant priorities balancing act between constraints, stability, customer demand, ASML business needs, innovation and sustaining the product life cycle, so every party understands how the train contributes to ASML and why decisions are taken. The CPO understands products, processes and business context of the train portfolio. She/he speaks both business and technical language to translate customer and business needs into team objectives.

To be able to execute this role, four core competences are key:

  • Lead through vision and business sense. CPO defines a compelling vision and translates it into a long term roadmap that inspires train members. Maintain and align with key stakeholders to ensure a healthy balance between market needs, innovation and sustaining the product life cycle.

  • Manage a healthy train backlog. CPO applies guardrails to balance demand over team capacity and competence. Speaks both business and technical language. Collaborates closely with PO's and other CPO's

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and train. CPO aligns stakeholders around the vision for the train, uses effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to manage expectations and get people to join the cause. CPO maintains trusted partnerships with stakeholders, manages a complex environment with an eye on long-term interests and consequences which requires integration and alignment with the whole value chain.

  • Ecosystemic thinking and technical drive. CPO maximizes the portfolio value delivered by the train, leads the train from the functional perspective,  guides the train through the product backlog toward building the right product/deliverables. She/he is responsible for the 6Q planning, execution and reporting of the train, the focus is on the vision, scope and objectives of the train and dependencies to other teams. CPO acts as empowering leader to enable the success of the trains, can coach PO's and collaborates closely with RTE.
