The role
As the Manufacturing Process Manager at Damen Naval, you will lead the development of efficient manufacturing processes for critical naval projects, directly impacting efficiency, costs, and quality. You'll collaborate strategically with Operations and Engineering to ensure seamless production and proactively identify and manage risks. Through your expertise in process improvement and securing knowledge, you'll fundamentally contribute to our continuous improvement.

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Spearheading the development and continuous improving of efficient manufacturing processes for the creation of critical naval components and shipbuilding projects.
  • Optimizing existing manufacturing processes and driving tangible increases in productivity, significant reductions in costs, and elevating overall product quality.
  • Collaborating strategically with Operations and Engineering, ensuring a seamless and integrated transition from design to final manufacturing as a high-performing end-to-end process.
  • Proactively identifying potential risks within manufacturing processes and architecting robust mitigation strategies, safeguarding production and ensuring project success.
  • Masterminding the identification of inefficiencies and quality deviations in production and then implementing impactful process improvements through Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, driving continuous excellence.
  • Establishing and meticulously documenting comprehensive manufacturing processes and best practices, ensuring invaluable knowledge retention and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.


Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in developing and optimizing complex manufacturing processes, ideally in shipbuilding or related heavy industry, with a proven record of tangible improvements.
  • Strong proficiency in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and a data-driven approach to identifying inefficiencies and implementing effective process improvements.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills to effectively partner with Operations, Engineering, and other departments, ensuring seamless production flow.
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate potential manufacturing risks, coupled with experience in documenting processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Relevant technical degree (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering) and fluency in English.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
