ASML (Eindhoven, Netherlands)
ASML is an innovation leader in the semiconductor industry. We provide chipmakers with everything they need – hardware, software and services – to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography.
Introduction
At Research we develop new concepts and the required technologies to move the performance of our next generation scanner products to exceptional levels. Environmental considerations are also taken into account, such as using environmental friendly materials and reducing the energy our scanners consume. It is our job to show the potential and pitfalls of these new technologies and concepts so our Business Lines can make clear decisions on the adaptation of these in our next generation scanners.
As we are expanding our team, we have an opening for a multi-phase flow expert with a focus on experiments.
Role and Responsibilities
In this position, you’re responsible for:
Developing experimental setups to study multi-phase flows present in our (future) scanners.
Explaining your setup choices and how they impact the quality of the results.
Executing experiments to collect data to drive the development and validation of simulation models.
Testing the performance of new flow concepts.
Providing input and feedback to the development of new flow concepts.
Education and experience
Education
The multi-phase flow experiments contain different physical phenomena. To name a few: free surface fluids moving over solid surfaces with different hydrophobic properties, gas flows to direct and steer fluid flows, break-up of fluid flows, gas bubble formation in fluids.
For the level of expertise we are looking for, we expect you to either have a PhD in this field and recently graduated or you have some years of industrial experience after completing your master's degree.
Experience
You have developed experimental setups.
You are familiar with setup automation, for example using LabView.
You’re experienced in using tools like MATLAB, Python, to process experimental data.
You are knowledgeable in displaying complex results in a simple convincing way.
You have a proven background in reporting and presenting these results to peers and different stakeholders.
Skills
Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.
To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following Skills:
Openness to learn techniques outside of the above mentioned fields.
Ability to cooperate within a highly skilled team of experts towards a common goal
Self-supporting skills and enthusiasm
Inquisitive personality with an analytical view
Commitment and motivation to achieve projects outcomes
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) across disciplines and at all organizational levels.
As experiments and simulations go hand-in-hand, experience with simulation tools like StarCCM+, COMSOL, Fluent, is a plus. Learning these tools will also be encouraged.
