Release Train Engineer - Software Infra & Computer Systems

We are SICS (Software Infrastructure and Computer Systems), the department that provides the software and computer hardware platform for our lithography systems.

We are more than just software, networking, operating systems or computer systems; therefore our work is more than just design, virtualization or pure infrastructure. Our projects are extremely complex and the outcome is often a technical wonder. We provide a generic platform for many product lines that require high performance, high availability and low maintenance cost.

There’s a lot expected from us and we always deliver more than what is expected. We achieve this not just by having a deep comprehension of some of the world’s most complex technical systems, but by being reliable and committed; by eliminating roadblocks and collaborating across Departments and disciplines.

We are organized around 4 Agile Release Trains that house the 28 development teams that cover the various SICS competences. These trains work together to deliver software and computer hardware towards all our ASML products.

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Release Train Engineer to lead our Communication and Network train.

Your Job Mission is to organize the work in the train and create the right environment for high performing, motivated, and empowered teams to develop and thrive.

You ensure good prioritization in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You make sure our stakeholders are informed, understand decisions we make and know what they can expect. You also understand what is needed to be successful in the future and ensure we also keep working on improving our tools and process.

And at the same time you lead the change as we implement Agile practices within the train and across the organization, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership for the release train, fostering a collaborative environment and driving the efficient delivery of high-quality work from several software and hardware teams.
• Orchestrate and facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning events, ensuring strategic alignment between teams and program objectives.
• Proactively identify and mitigate dependencies and risks that could impede progress of the train.
• Champion Agile principles throughout the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Function as a trusted advisor and coach, empowering Agile teams through ongoing support and guidance as they adopt new ways of working.

Education and experience

• Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer or similar Agile leadership role in a high-tech, multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience with transitioning from a traditional project-driven approach to an Agile product development approach.
• Experience with coaching individuals and teams, fostering a growth mindset and high performance.

Skills

• You have excellent facilitation and communication skills and are able to motivate and inspire teams
• A strong record of problem-solving and a proactive approach to risk management.
• Proven experience coaching and mentoring Agile teams, fostering a growth mindset and high performance.
• You have a good grasp of agile theory, and are familiar with agile and lean concepts, methodologies and practices.
