This Position reports to:

Your Role and Responsibilities

Processes such as delivering drinking water or pumping oil from oil fields are becoming increasingly advanced thanks to ABB. You are at the core of the success of these projects, which we carry out for clients such as water utilities, oil companies, and regional water authorities. As a Senior Project Lead Engineer at ABB in Etten-Leur, you ensure that everything runs smoothly from a technical perspective. How do you do that? By taking the lead, coordinating with stakeholders, and guiding the engineers within the teams.

What will you do at ABB?

As a Senior Project Lead Engineer, you are the technical leader responsible for ensuring that all activities within a project are executed as agreed. This includes setting up project planning, achieving quality standards, complying with safety requirements, and monitoring the hours budgeted for a project. You guard the progress and know when to make adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency. Additionally, you represent ABB to various external parties involved in the projects.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Developing project schedules and monitoring progress.
• Identifying and mitigating engineering risks.
• Leading engineers from various disciplines.
• Supporting commercial activities such as project cost estimations.

Your team

Each project is unique, so team composition varies depending on the size of the assignment. Larger projects typically include around 6 to 7 engineers. You will work closely with a project manager, to whom you report and with whom you regularly consult. You are the project manager’s technical right hand and translate technical objectives into clear tasks for the team. Additionally, you’ll interact with quality managers, safety officers, the resource planner, and the engineering manager. You’ll mainly work from our Etten-Leur office and, if desired, on-site at the customer’s location.

Your strengths lie in organizing and planning work, and in analyzing and understanding customer requirements. You are solution-oriented and have strong communication skills, enabling you to delegate work clearly and responsibly.

Qualifications for the position

• A bachelor’s degree or higher (HBO or equivalent).
• At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Experience with project management, planning, and risk management.
• Proficiency in both Dutch and English.
