Master’s Thesis Internship: Coverage Argumentation and Safety Validation for Automated Vehicles
At Siemens, we develop cutting-edge tools and methodologies to support the testing and validation of automated vehicles (AVs) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Ensuring AV safety is a complex challenge due to the vast range of possible driving conditions, including rare and unpredictable scenarios. Traditional real-world testing alone is insufficient, making scenario-based testing and virtual validation critical approaches for safety assessment.
This master’s thesis project will focus on coverage argumentation for our approach to finding unknown-unsafe scenarios. In scenario-based testing, coverage measures how well test scenarios reflect real-world driving conditions that an AV may encounter. The thesis will explore methodologies to quantify and improve coverage within our virtual validation and optimization framework.
