Introduction to the job

We are looking for the supplier quality engineer (SQE) with a strong mechanical background within the (R&D) department at ASML!

Are you a quality enthusiast who can focus well on reducing supplier manufacturing risk starting in the early project phases of a new product Introduction? Do you enjoy cooperating with suppliers and engineers from the beginning? Do you have the technical knowledge to keep improving supply chain processes?

Then this position is the right fit for you!

Role and Responsibilities

As supplier quality engineer (SQE) you'll take over the pivotal role of linking project development and production teams (at ASML) with the related development and manufacturing teams (at our suppliers). You will be involved at the very start of the design and development process – because we need to know months in advance that the performance parts/modules we seek meet quality criteria and are technically feasible. As supplier quality engineer (SQE) you will achieve this certainty not only by aiming at the highest engineering standards from world-leading suppliers, but also by understanding the technical limitations, and where necessary you will drive co-design initiatives and encourage engineers on both sides to seek alternative solutions.

As supplier quality engineer (SQE) you'll be guiding the development of the design between development programs and suppliers, which involves:

  • Performing risk assessment when introducing new parts with technologically challenging requirements to the supplier
  • Defining risk mitigation plan in alignment with internal stakeholders and suppliers by interpreting supplier technology and manufacturability capabilities and driving early supplier involvement into the ASML design project
  • Executing the risk mitigation plan, for example, by developing suppliers in new aspects for production (e.g., process- and qualification techniques), meanwhile considering balance between technology requirements, quality and time-to-market.

All the above-mentioned activities must be in line with the sector and business line targets:

  • Relationship management: build and maintain a good relationship with suppliers
  • Early supplier involvement: you will be participating in development projects: from the early design phase to securing the manufacturability of the design and technology availability from suppliers and drive early supplier involvement
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): next to executing the risk mitigation plan with suppliers (e.g. manufacturing flow, PFMEA, control plan, specification agreement) you are responsible for contributing to the (NPI) design phase and giving feedback on supply-chain related design choices to suppliers. Support IB&S projects (Installed Base & Service) and complete technical administrative work.
  • Supplier support: for difficult qualification and manufacturing issues (e.g., yield and quality improvements). In addition assuring a transfer from the NPI phase to the Operations phase within ASML
  • Supplier development: - at the supplier-end, you will be managing and challenging manufacturing processes to be efficient and fool proof by using quality systems and tools (e.g., MSA, Capability analysis etc.), and would be responsible for all supplier-related documentation to secure parts’ quality from suppliers (e.g., the Statement of Work, TPD Acceptance by Supplier, (Proto) Evaluation reports, manufacturing flows, Test Coverage Documents including SPC and Part Qualification Report)
  • Inspections and thereafter, driving subsequent improvement plans in cooperation with the supplier

Education and experience

  • Vocational or Bachelor’s degree in mechanics, mechatronics, material science engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain engineering.
  • Experience competences related to manufacturability and processes to build /assemble complex mechanical parts and assemblies or precision-mechanical design, production/ manufacturing engineering are preferred
  • Relevant supplier quality experience
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a high-tech environment/ supplier quality engineering at service organizations:
  • At least two years of working experience on Bachelor level or seven to ten years of working experience on Vocational level (M.T.S in Dutch)

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.

To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following Skills:

  • Fluency in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
  • Team player, but also the ability to work independently
  • Results driven, able to plan and prioritize
  • Driven to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Pro-active quality assurance process mindset
  • The drive, energy, and initiative to achieve continuous improvement
  • Negotiation skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Preferably trained and experienced with Six Sigma Green (Black Belt) and problem solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5xWhy)
