Tax Specialist Maghreb Countries

Responsibilities and main tasks

The Tax specialist Maghreb has overall responsibility for the countries (Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco) tax controlling, strategic planning and compliance with local tax laws as well as Siemens internal policies. He/She is responsible for the design, roll out and ongoing optimization of a 'One Tax Function' covering all Siemens entities in Maghreb. The Tax Manager Maghreb is collaborating with and supported by Siemens internal tax experts and external tax advisers in performing his/her role.

The Tax Specialist Maghreb is located in Belgium, Huizingen. Travels between the countries must be contemplated to ensure proximity with the business and foster collaboration with internal and external partners.

This role comprises as main tasks

  • Management of Tax Compliance for Siemens in Maghreb: Ensures compliance with tax laws and complete, correct and timely submit of all Tax Returns as well as payment of taxes in Maghreb. Management of Tax Audits.
  • Management of Siemens Maghreb Tax Position: Review, manage and optimize Siemens effective tax rate (ETR), tax payments, deferred tax, and tax losses. As a listed company, Siemens must report its deferred tax position.
  • Effective Tax Risk Management: Review and proactively manage the tax governance process for Siemens in Maghreb.
  • Strategic Tax Planning and Tax Optimization: Provide appropriate planning to create value within an agreed risk framework and to ensure Siemens business can be conducted efficiently and effectively whilst being fully compliant with tax laws. Manage and optimize tax advice for Business and M&A (investments and disposals).
  • Tax Co-ordination: Represent Siemens Maghreb tax within the internal global tax community and responsible for complete, correct and timely tax reporting to Siemens AG for group reporting. Coordinate with internal and external partners.

Required Competencies

  • Degree in Law, Finance or Accounting with a specialization / focus on Tax
  • Profound knowledge in Tax of Maghreb countries comprising direct, indirect and international tax matters, which has been developed in a tax advisory firm or in-house tax function.
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting (local and IFRS) for financial reporting purposes in in order to follow/determine deferred tax position.
  • Multi-year working experience covering tax advisory, tax compliance and tax reporting aspects.
  • High motivation, excellent communication skills, decision making skills, growth mindset, openness to work in international environment, ability to coordinate.
  • Language skills in French and English, Arabic skills are a plus (you will report to the HQ of France and Belgium)
