THE POSITION

In this role, you will be immersed in offshore wind projects, focusing on transport, lifting, and installation tasks. Based in our Offshore Wind Transport & Installation Unit in Gorinchem, you’ll support projects during their preparation and execution phases. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency of our fleet and the success of our offshore operations. 

You will be guided through an 18-month rotational program, tailored to the company’s needs, including hands-on preparation of real projects and opportunities for site visits. This role provides a solid foundation for building technical knowledge and growing within the dynamic and expanding offshore energy sector which you will benefit from for the rest of your career. 

YOUR IMPACT

As part of Van Oord's Offshore Wind Foundation Unit, you will be at the heart of the transport and installation knowledge centre, taking on these key responsibilities: 

 

• Selecting vessels and designing deck layouts, lift plans, and sea fastenings for offshore wind installations.
• Developing and optimizing foundation and turbine installation procedures.
• Contributing to innovative solutions using state-of-the-art equipment and our modern fleet.

Starting as a Trainee Transport & Installation Engineer, you will have the chance to grow into roles such as Senior T&I Engineer, Lead T&I Engineer, or Engineering Manager where you will take end-to-end responsibility for the installation engineering of projects. Alternatively, you can also specialize further as an Engineering Specialist. The T&I department is a strong foundation for building technical expertise and serves as a stepping stone to other roles within project teams, tender- or engineering departments. 

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a proactive and analytical engineer who thrives in a challenging and dynamic environment. Your technical expertise, combined with your ability to connect with people and solve complex problems, will make you a great fit for our team. You have a good command of English, both written and spoken, and you are skilled at forming strong connections within the company and externally. 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Maritime, or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills
• A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset
• A strong affinity with water and enthusiasm for the offshore wind sector
