The growth of ASML into becoming a world leader in providing lithography solutions to the semi-conductor industry has been fueled by relentless technology innovation to enable our customers to realize continuous shrink of microchips until today and will remain essential for the future.

In order to maintain and further build capability for technology innovation, the affordability for purchase and economic operation of lithography systems for our customers is becoming more and more critical for ASML. Hence, there is a growing sense of urgency to start managing functional as well as industrial performance of lithography systems in a structural way by means of deploying quality and operational excellence methodologies; this applies to the areas of development, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain management and customer service end to end, as well as program and product management by the individual Business Lines and Business Units.

The Quality Manager Business Line is the partner for a Business Line in shaping and deploying quality and operational excellence methodologies and tools across the individual sectors (being development & engineering, source & procure, manufacturing & install, customer support and the global Quality & Excellence organization) to enable the Business Line to meet objectives and targets.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the implementation of quality and operational excellence initiatives as guided by the ASML Quality Roadmap within Business Line specific product programs.
  • Secure and support the involvement of business sectors, like Development and Engineering, Supply Chain management, Manufacturing and Customer Support to meet quality objectives and targets as set out by the Business Lines.
  • Manage the periodic reporting on quality topics and KPI’s, including performance on Customer Satisfaction, operational quality within ASML as well as the supply chain and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Drive quality and excellence improvement programs “top-down” and “bottom-up” in the Business Line and secure embedding of improvement results in the Business Line daily operation.
  • Closely collaborate with ASML Quality sector representatives (e.g. D&E, S&SC, Factory and Customer Support) and represent Quality on behalf of the Business Line. 

Role:

  • Be the central quality representative of the Business Line for initiating, driving and participating in quality initiatives to meet the Business Line key business priorities.
  • Be the trusted partner for sectors and Business Lines to build and strengthen their core quality and excellence competences and quality management capabilities in the areas of product risk management, functional and industrial product and process design, supply chain management, manufacturing and customer service.
  • Be the role model in the transition of establishing a living quality culture throughout the organization.

Education and experience

  • Master or Bachelor degree in (industrial) engineering.
  • 10-15 years of experience in project and change management in a dynamic and complex industry. 
  • Experienced in driving quality and excellence in the areas of technology innovation and industrialization in a complex environment and being able to deal with organizational resistance on the way.
  • Experienced in working in a matrix organization.
  • Seasoned in inspiring and engaging with stakeholders at all managerial levels.
  • Experienced in deploying design quality tools (D/PFMEA) and Lean Six Sigma practices within a development & engineering and operations environment.
  • Experienced in driving change in a large, global organization. 
  • High level of personal ownership, initiative and drive, demonstrating a “can do” mentality. 

Skills

  • Capable of setting up collaboration successfully with and between stakeholders in functional expertise areas covering Development & Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing and Customer Support.
  • Maintaining focus on translating ASML Quality Roadmap items into BL business targets.
  • Capable of influencing people without formal authority up to senior management level.
  • Able to analyze working methods and business processes, define and drive improvements, secure organizational embedding of improvements with a can-do mentality.
  • Pro-active stakeholder management up to senior management level.
  • Capable of combining project and change management.
  • Able to build and maintain an operational quality network within the BL with a strong connection to the business MT.
  • Professional presence having a strong focus on embedding quality and operational excellence in a matrix organization.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
